Mauritius Tax ID Number (TIN) Guide

All information provided herein is verified from official MRA sources.

6. TIN and VAT Number Connection

  • VAT Registration Number
  • Assigned upon successful VAT registration.
  • Used on all VAT invoices and related documentation.
  • Format
  • The VAT Registration Number is a unique identifier, separate from the TAN and BRN.

For detailed information on VAT registration and obligations, refer to the MRA’s VAT section

7. Why Accurate TIN Validation Matters

Ensuring the accuracy of your TIN is critical for both businesses and individuals in Mauritius. An incorrect or unverified TIN can lead to serious complications such as:

  • Delays in tax processing
  • Rejection of tax exemption claims
  • Fines and penalties for non-compliance
  • Rejection of e-invoicing submissions
  • Onboarding unqualified suppliers or customers
